Sound Familiar?

We know what New York families go through.

You call at noon to check in. No one answers. You find out three hours later — from your mother — that the caregiver never showed up.

— A family in Manhattan

The invoice says 40 hours. Your father mentioned being alone several days last week. You start checking the dates.

— A son from Queens

They’ve sent four different people this month. Your mother with Alzheimer’s won’t eat when a stranger is in the house.

— A daughter caring for her mother, Brooklyn

You are paying for professional care.

You deserve to be in control of it.

How It Works

From your first call,
care starts in your home within 48 hours.

You call. An RN answers.

A registered nurse picks up. Not a receptionist, not a voicemail. We ask about your parent: their condition, their routine, what kind of person they are. Take as long as you need.

You meet the caregiver, you approve.

We match a caregiver to your parent’s needs: language, temperament, experience. You meet them before they start. They begin only with your sign-off.

Care begins in 48 hours.

Your caregiver starts on the day we agreed. You have your coordinator’s direct number before they arrive. If something changes, we call you. You won’t have to wonder.

How We’re Different

We don’t say “quality care.”
We explain exactly how.

Who will be with my parent?
#1 concern
✓ ProLife

You meet the caregiver before they start. You say yes or no. They begin only with your approval.

✗ Typical agency

They send whoever is available. You meet them at the door on day one.

Will the caregiver keep changing?
✓ ProLife

One caregiver, assigned to your parent. We don’t rotate without a reason you approve.

✗ Typical agency

Staff rotates. Your parent learns a new face every few weeks.

What if the caregiver doesn’t show up?
✓ ProLife

We find the replacement and call you. You hear from us first, not from an empty doorstep.

✗ Typical agency

You find out when no one arrives.

How long until care actually starts?
✓ ProLife

Care begins within 48 hours of your first call.

✗ Typical agency

1–2 weeks of intake paperwork before anyone starts.

Will they understand my parent?
✓ ProLife

Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Bengali and more. You choose the language when you call.

✗ Typical agency

English only in most cases.

I am very satisfied with the agency. They help me take care of my mother. My family is very grateful to them.

We place a caregiver within 48 hours of hospital discharge anywhere in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Bronx, Staten Island, or Nassau County.

We guide your family through the Medicaid enrollment paperwork at the same time as care begins.

When Medicaid is approved, only the billing changes. The caregiver your parent trusts stays.

Your Questions

Things families ask us before calling

What if the caregiver gets sick or doesn’t show up?
We find the replacement and call you. You are never left without coverage.
You hear from us first, not from an empty doorstep. We have a backup network of 500++ caregivers across all boroughs for exactly this reason.
Can we request a different caregiver if it’s not working out?
Yes. No explanation required. We arrange a replacement within 24 hours.
We match carefully the first time, but if it’s not right we fix it immediately and at no charge. Your loved one’s comfort comes first.
We need someone who speaks Russian / Chinese / Spanish
Tell us when you call. We match by language, culture, and care needs — not just availability.
Our caregivers speak 13 languages: Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Chinese, Georgian, Bengali, Korean, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Urdu, Polish, and French. Language matching is standard, not a special request.
We haven’t decided yet — we just want to know what it costs
No pressure at all. A 15-minute call gives you exact pricing for your specific situation.
You decide on your own timeline. Our coordinators answer questions without pushing for a commitment. Private pay care in NYC typically starts at $35/hour — use the calculator above for a personal estimate.
How quickly can we actually start?
Assessment today, caregiver placed this week. Often within 48 hours for private-pay clients.
Call (718) 232-2777 and we confirm next-day availability in your neighborhood. We serve all NYC boroughs and Nassau County.
What if mom or dad doesn’t like the caregiver?
Free replacement. No questions asked.
We interview to understand personality fit before placing anyone. But if the connection isn’t there for any reason, we swap immediately. Your family’s comfort is not negotiable.
Does Medicare cover private home care?
No. Medicare does not cover private pay home care.
Medicare Part A covers skilled nursing facility care for up to 100 days after hospitalization. A dedicated caregiver for daily living support is not covered. Options include Medicaid (for those who qualify), long-term care insurance, or private pay out of pocket.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to start private home care?
No referral needed. You call us, we assess, we place a caregiver.
No doctor’s order, no paperwork delay. This is one of the key advantages of private pay — you are in control of the timeline, not the healthcare system.
Who qualifies for private home care?
Any adult who needs help with daily activities. No medical qualification, no income limit, no insurance approval.
If your loved one needs help with bathing, dressing, meals, medication reminders, mobility, or companionship — they can start immediately. You call us, we assess the care needs, and we place a caregiver.
Does Medicaid cover home care in NYC?
Yes — but approval takes 45 to 90 days. Most families start with private pay while Medicaid is processed.
In New York, Medicaid covers home care through CDPAP and Managed Long Term Care (MLTC). ProLife places a caregiver while you wait, then transitions billing to Medicaid once approved. The same caregiver continues.
What does a home health aide do?
An HHA helps with daily living: bathing, dressing, meals, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and companionship.
All ProLife caregivers are NYS-certified HHAs or PCAs. They do not perform medical procedures. We match by care needs, language, and personality — not just availability.
