Home care services

What we do at home. Medicaid covers most of this list; the private rate is published on each page.

  • All services compared Seven licensed services side by side, with who pays for each
  • Home Health Aide (HHA) Washing, dressing, meals, plus health-related tasks under a nurse
  • Personal Care Aide (PCA) Daily living without clinical tasks. In New York City also called a home attendant
  • Live-in care A caregiver lives in the home and sleeps there
  • Alzheimer's and dementia care Memory-trained caregivers, at no surcharge
  • Nursing at home Wound care, injections, IV and catheters by an RN or LPN
  • Post-surgery care The weeks between the discharge sheet and the follow-up appointment
  • Medical escort Someone goes to the appointment, listens, and reports back
  • Private pay home care For families who do not qualify for Medicaid or cannot wait for it

Therapy at home

All three need a physician order. Prices differ by borough because travel time across the city does.

  • All three therapies compared Which one was ordered, and who pays for it
  • Physical therapy Walking, balance, stairs and transfers after surgery, a fall or a stroke
  • Occupational therapy Dressing, cooking, bathing, and adapting the apartment itself
  • Speech therapy Speaking and understanding, and swallowing, which families rarely mention

About the agency

  • About ProLife Home Care Who runs the agency, how long we have been licensed, and how we hire
  • Questions and answers What families ask before they call, including what it costs
  • Contact and offices Brooklyn and Flushing addresses, phone, fax and hours
  • HHA and PCA jobs Open caregiver positions and what we pay
  • Blog Articles about home care in New York

Legal and patient rights

These are the documents a licensed home care agency in New York is required to publish. All of them are written to be read, not to be scrolled past.

  • Patient Bill of Rights The twelve rights every client has under 10 NYCRR 766.1
  • Notice of Nondiscrimination Section 1557, and how to file a grievance
  • Language Assistance Free interpreters, with the notice published in fifteen languages
  • Accessibility What we have done for this site, and what is still unfinished
  • Notice of Privacy Practices How health information is used and shared, under HIPAA
  • Privacy Policy What this website collects, and what the cookies do
  • Terms of Use The rules for using this site, and what it is not
