Shoulder (rotator cuff) or hand surgery — I can’t drive for weeks. How do people get to appointments?
I just had rotator cuff surgery and my arm is in a sling. I can't drive and I have follow-ups and therapy. What do people do?

After rotator cuff or hand surgery (such as carpal tunnel release), you may not be able to drive safely for some time; your surgeon decides when. Until then you still need to get to follow-ups and therapy, and with one arm out of use, things like coats, car doors and forms become hard.
A medical escort can take you to each appointment and back. A trained home health aide picks you up at home, rides with you by accessible vehicle or Uber, stays in the room through the visit, takes notes on what the doctor says, and brings you home and settled. For regular appointments, we can set a standing schedule so you do not have to book every time.
ProLife's medical escort is private pay: $32 an hour, or a flat $145–$250 for the whole visit (pickup, staying through the appointment, and the ride home). Medicaid and Medicare do not cover it. Prices can change; current rates: https://prolifehc.com/medical-escort/
Book as soon as you have the date, ideally 48–72 hours ahead; shorter notice is possible when someone is available. Call (718) 232-2777.
